Properly Preparing a Wall For Painting

Sometimes a wall for painting will be good and healthy. In other cases it might have had to deal with some stains and other paint concerns. Here is a process to use for preparing a wall before it can be painted.

The first thing to do is to check and see if there is any wallpaper covering the wall or if any paint is coming off the wall in chips. It is not a good idea to paint over a wall that is chipping or a wall that has wallpaper on it. It helps to use a wall scraper to handle paint or to use a paint-stripping gel.

This can work to ensure that mold and mildew will not get onto the wall after it is painted.

It will help to check to see if a wall's old paint features lead. This is applicable if the home's last paint job came before 1977. A professional lead cleaner will need to be hired to remove this paint if this is the case.

The final thing to do is to wash the wall before it is painted. This is especially important for an area like a bathroom or kitchen. The wall should be cleaned off with the use of a mild soap. This is so the wall will be able to handle a good coating of paint without any concerns.

He paints a passing world does he not; transcends it with his pomes (French for: poems), here and now verse. Literal things that pertain to today's substance; heavy for its lightness I'd say; it taxes you, as it should; makes the world look a little foolish, or so it seems to me. Death is kind of a grandness; a body that gets worn out also; which is all too true. Another variation of the game is called speed ball. This game is played in a much smaller area with manmade bunkers used as cover. These games are mostly elimination and are timed. The winner is the team with the most players left in play at the end of the time limit set by the referees. These games are very fast paced and are usually favored by the intermediate level players.

The next step up would be what's called air ball. This game is played on a small field with inflatable bunkers. This is the type of game play which is sometimes televised on extreme sports cable stations. This type of game play is only recommended for people who have quite a bit of paintball experience under their belt.

Unlike woods ball, which usually has a 15-to-20 rule being the closest distance you can be to someone when you shoot them, there is no such rule in effect on the air ball field. You can, and it happens "bunker" your opponents, bunker simply means that you run up to someone and shoot them at point-blank range.

Also the markers in these types of paintball games are allowed to shoot at a much higher velocity. Simply put, it hurts more when you get hit on the air ball field. Yet even with that, air ball seems to be the most popular game style there is.

Offering both recreational and practical uses, paintball is a sport that continues to gain in popularity. From military training to backyard fun, the game has a worldwide following.

FCC General Radiotelephone Operator License - An Electronics and Radio Qualification

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is a US government run agency that regulates the requirements for all Radio Emissions within the United States. Amongst its many sub-functions is the setting of Competency Standards for a plethora of different Operator Licenses that are legally required for Radio communications. One of the highest level Commercial licenses being the General Radiotelephone Operator License, or simply: GROL.

The GROL is required to adjust, maintain, or internally repair FCC licensed radiotelephone transmitters in the Aviation, Maritime or International fixed public radio services.

This license must be held by operators of certain maritime and aviation based land radio stations, compulsory equipped ship radiotelephone stations operating with more than 1500 Watts of Peak Envelope Power (PEP), and voluntarily equipped ship stations with more than 1000 Watts of PEP.

The GROL also functions as a baseline for further License endorsements. For example, the Radar endorsement is required to legally install, maintain and service ship Radar equipment. Without attainment of this qualification, a career installing, Servicing or even designing Radar equipment (within the Military, Maritime or Aviation Industries) would be extremely difficult to achieve.

The GROL also functions as an Electronic and Radio competency for many skilled professionals, as it is issued by the US government. Thus, attainment of this qualification provides further validation of skills and knowledge that are achieved within these professions. To further illustrate this point, the domestic Broadcast Industry (Radio and Television) is not legally bound to require Technicians and Engineers to hold a GROL. However, in a lot of instances these organizations recommend that this License be achieved to substantiate a high level of Electronic and Radio Communications knowledge.

In order to be eligible for the License to be issued, you must satisfy three basic requirements. They are:

1. Be a legal resident of the United States who is eligible for employment.

2. Be able to receive and transmit spoken messages in the English language.

3. Pass a multiple choice examination covering basic Electronic theory, Radio law, and Operating Procedures. These are covered in the FCC Element 1, and Element 3 Examinations.

Most FCC Licenses are achieved through various forms of Home Study tuition. This can be provided through an assortment of different types of Training material such as Tapes, CD's, Books and Software packages. Unfortunately, without an Electronics background, and a dedicated study raceme attaining a GROL can be an almost impossible task. Also on top of this, some students find it difficult to achieve their goals when left to their own demise. Most Home Study courses leave the student without the ability to get any type of question answered as part of the presented Training Material, and there is often no reference to the basic principles that lie beneath the presented answers. In these cases, personal tuition is another option that should be sort.

On average, a dedicated student can consider sitting for the FCC examinations within a three month time period. For employment purposes, this qualification is well worth achieving!

Cisco CCNA / CCNP Home Lab Tutorial: The 2520 Router

I know from experience that part of the excitement and anxiety of putting together your own CCNA / CCNP home lab is deciding what to buy! While you can make a workable home lab out of almost any combination of Cisco routers and switches, some routers are better suited for home lab work than others because they can fill multiple roles.

My personal favorite is the Cisco 2520. This router has four serial interfaces, making it an ideal frame relay switch. Don't forget that just because you're using a router as a frame switch, you can still use its routing capabilities. One setup I use is to use three of the four serial interfaces for frame switching and the fourth interface as a point-to-point network with another router. All you need is some DTE/DCE cables and you're all set.

The 2520 also comes with one ethernet interface and an ISDN interface, so that gives you even more options. Even if you're not planning to run ISDN in your home lab right now, you may choose to do so in the future - and with a 2520, you've already got the right router to do so. Keep in mind that if you are going to run ISDN in your home lab, you'll need an ISDN device such as an ISDN simulator in your lab. (ISDN simulators are physical devices and are plentiful on eBay - they're no relation to "router simulators".)

Again, I want to reiterate that you can work any Cisco router into a CCNA / CCNP home lab - there's no "right" or "wrong" combination of equipment. But as with anything else, some combinations are better than others, so consider adding some 2520s to your home lab! This router gives you a great combination of interfaces and capabilities, plus the most important factor of all - real hands-on experience during your CCNA and CCNP exam preparation!
